    Evan L. Horn, 88, of Woodhill Road, Mansfield, died at his home Tuesday, May 5, following a brief illness. He was born Nov. 11, 1903, in Greene county, to Simon and Della Ashcraft Horn, both now deceased. He had been a resident of the Mansfield area since 1954. He graduated from Bloomfield High School, earned his bachelor's degree from Indiana State and his master's from Indiana University. He was employed with Investor Diversified Services Inc. for 45 years, retiring in January 1992. He was a member of Grace Episcopal Church and a life member of the Sertoma Club. Surviving are his wife of 58 years, Helen Cunningham Horn, a brother, Fred D. Horn of South Bend; and two grandsons, Scott and Robert Witthoff both of Lincoln, Nb. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Carolyn Witthoff in 1985 and two brothers Ernest C. and Bernard B. Horn. Services were Friday, May 8, at 10:30 am at the Finefrock Funeral Home with the Rev. Bill S. Sipes officiating. Burial was in Mansfield Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be made to the Grace Episcopal Church. - May 14, 1992 Bloomfield News

    Alice L Horn - Sept 28, 1921-Dec 11, 2005 - - Our beloved Mother, Alice Lorraine Horn, 84, of South Bend, In., passed away in her home on Sunday, December 11, 2005, and is now celebrating her first Heavenly Christmas with her husband Fred Sr., and a daughter Cheryl D. Horn. - - Alice was born on September 28, 1921, in South Bend, In. to Samuel A. and Madelon (Moore) Bourdon, and was a lifelong resident. She retired in 1982 from the Little Dutch Cleaners. On May 12, 1939, in Waterloo, In. as Alice L. Bourdon, she was married to Fred D. Horn, who preceded her in death on March 3, 2004. Also preceding her in death were a daughter Cheryl D. Horn on July 23, 2004; one granddaughter Pamela Jayne Paulsen; one great-granddaughter, Micheala Blankenbaker; three brothers, Richard, Ralph, and Jack Bourdon; and by one niece, Robin K. Bourdon in 1983. - - Survivors include two daughters: Joyleene A. (Tom) Barnes of Cave Creek, Az. and Kathie Jo (David) Graham of South Bend, In.; one son, Fred D. (Marg) Horn Jr. of Mountain Home, Id.; eight grand children,, twenty-six great grandchildren and one great great grandson; two sisters Betty Boggs and Joan (Bill) Kidder of South Bend, In. and by two sisters-in-law: IMa Bourdon and Midge Bourdon of South Bend, In. - - Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, December 16, 2005 in the First Brethren Church of Ardmore. Burial will be in Mount Pleasant Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 until 9 p.m. on Thursday in the Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Drive, and for an hour prior to services on Friday in the church. - - Alice had been a member of the First Brethren Church of Ardmore since 1954. She taught Sunday School, sang in the church choir, served as Sunday School Secretary and was a member of the Ministry of Women. She was a former member of the Women’s Missionary Society and Bowlers Country Club.     Notes from his eulogy [May 23, 1982, Department of the Army, headquarters 124th US Army Reserve Command, Fort Lawton, Washington ] Attended University in Texas. Entered Army 1942. Served with the 100th Infantry in France. Platoon leader of the 399th Infantry Regt., awarded the Bronze Star Medal December 8, 1944. Awarded the Silver Star for gallantry in action. Awarded the Purple Heart and a second Bronze Star for his actions on March 8, 1945 at Reyerville, France where he was wounded in the chest by an enemy grenade. After WWII he held various jobs, including service with the 27th Infantry "Wolfhound" Regiment in Hawaii. Advisor to the Republic of Korea Army. At the time of his retirement in 1963 he was the Public Affairs Officer with the Headquarters of the US Army in Hawaii. He also held the Army Commendation Medal, the WWII Victory Medal, the Army Occupation Medal and service campaign medals. After his retirement he was with the Federal Civil Service and served as the Operations Planning Officer with the G3 staff of the US Army Corps at Fort Lawton, Washington. He joined the US Army Reserve and continued to work as an Operations Officer with the G3 staff of the 124th Command. He retired in 1980. He was awarded the Commander's Award for Civilian Service.

    Winton grew up Panama Canal Zone. Winton Brown in 1946 left the Atmospheric Obscurants Lab at Edgewood Arsenal Maryland, got a discharge from the U.S. Army where he had worked as a Captain for five years developing smoke screens to hide ships in convoys crossing the Atlantic to supply Britain and Russia in the WWII effort. He said he didn't care for the Army for a career...he said: "There are more horses asses in the Army then there are horses!" he said "the big 16 inch guns on those navy ships Win, they go Boom! and scare the hell out of people more than they actually cause any damage.
    He moved his family (his wife Eliza Cannell, Beth and me age 1.5) to W. Irondequoit, a northern suburb of Rochester NY and started working for a Dr. Hickman at Distillation Products Industries

McKee, 76, of 1806 Restful Drive, Bradenton, Flordia, died Sunday, November 25, 1984 at Manatee Memorial Hospital, Bradenton, Fl. Funeral Services were conducted Wednesday, November 28, 1984 at Bradenton Funeral Home with Alfred L. Bayless officiating. Burial was at Skyway Memorial Gardens at Palmetto, Fl. Born in Lyons, Indiana Mr. McKee went to Bradenton from Culver, Ind. in September 1974. He retired as a service station manager for Exxon Corporation. He was a member of the Midway Church of Christ. He is survived by his wife, Reba; a daughter, Judith Burns of Culver, In.; and a son, Stephen of Brandenton, Flordia, a sister, Thelma Hennebohle of Pinellas Park, Flordia, and three grandchildren. – Culver Citizen
    For awhile they lived in Bloomington, Monroe, In. where he worked in a drug store. Then moving to near Danville, In. (RR 2 Box 460 Indianapolis) before Oct. 1951 working there on a farm and on to Culver, Marshall, In. in Dec. 1952 where he worked on the Newman Dairy Farm first till about 1957 (that was when the Dairy Farm quit selling milk to the Culver Military Academy) and then on the A. Judson Dillon farm till Aug. 1962. Then he took over management of the Enco Service Station in Culver and ran it until it burned on 27 Jan. 1972. and then worked for the owner of the station in one of the others he owned at Rochester, Fulton, In., moving there in May 1974 until Sept 1974 when they moved to Bradenton, Manatee, Fl. She graduated from City Hospital School of Nursing (Now Wishard Hospital) Indianapolis, Marion, In. and is a retired Registered Nurse and has worked in the hospitals in the communities they lived in or the nearby communities.

    Louise Kathyrn Emery, 71, Linton, died Tuesday, Sept. 14, at Glenburn Home. Born May 22, 1928, in Vigo County, she was the daughter of Frank S. and Rosetta (Cash) Rogers. She was a homemaker and member of the Church of Christ. Survivors include her husband, Thomas L. Emery ; one son, Gerald Lee Emery of Indianapolis; one brother, Don Rogers of North Fort Myers, Fla.     They had lived in the rural Jasonville area during the 1950’s and 1960’s moving to Switz City and then to Bloomfield. When Louise went into the nursing home at Linton Leonard moved to Linton and lived there till he also went into the nursing home. From the early 1980’s or possibly earlier he was legally blind.

    Leonard as he was known died on 14 Mar. 2005 and buried 14 Mar. 2005

    Born Nov. 11, 1924 in Lyons, he was the son of Clarence and Effie (Edington) Emery. He had been married to Louise Katherine (Rogers) Emery, who passed away Sept. 14, 1999.

    He was a laborer in manufacturing and a member of the Church of Christ.

    Charles L. Edington, 81, Solsberry, died Wednesday March 24, at the Bloomington Hospital. Born Nov. 7, 1917, in Greene County, he was the son of Noah Sr. and Minnie Ellen (Emery) Edington. He was a retired electrician and the manager of the Electrical Division at NAD Crane. He was a member of the Greene County Chapel United Methodist Church, Solsberry Masonic Lodge, Solsberry American Legion, Coshocton County Chapter Ohio Genealogical Society, Monroe County Genealogical Society, Monroe County Historical Socoiety. He was leader of Boy Scout Troop #5 at the Untied Presbyterian Church in Bloomington for 10 years. Survivors include he wife, Agnes E. (Gavin) Edington; two sons, Thomas P. Edington of Solsberry and Johm M. Edington of Ingalls; one daughter, Mary Ann Edington of Bloomington; three brothers, Elmer Edington of New Mexico, Earl Kenneth Edington of Columbus and Noah T. She was a homemaker and member of the Indiana Church of Christ., Bloomington Women of the Moose Foresters Lodge. Survivors include her husband, Elmer E. Edington; one daughter, Patricia N. Tidd of Truth or Consequences, N. M.; one son James E. Edington of Crane; one sister, Roxie Stanley of Bloomington; one brother, Robert Richardson of Bloomington; four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.     He retired from Westinghouse. He was a member of the Indiana Church of Christ, and Moose lodge.

    Survivors include one son, James Edington of Crane; one daughter, Patricia N. "Patty" Tidd of Las Cruces, N.M.; two brothers, Noah Edington Jr. and Kenneth Edington of Columbus; four grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.

    He was preceded in death by his wife, Martha Edington; one brother, Charlie Edington and done sister, Eva Figg.

      Vernon M. Emery, 75, passed away at Hendricks Regional Healthcare in Danville.

      Born Oct. 25, 1929, in Bloomfield, he was the son of Emil Emery Sr. and Vina Emery (Dove).

      He was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corp and served from 1947 to 1950 at Camp Le Jeune, N.C., attaining the rank of PFC and membership in the Military Police before being honorably discharged.

      On Sept. 2, 1949 he married Lois Elaine Keller whom he spent the next 56 years with.

      He was employed, after leaving the service, as a filling station and truck stop manager working for both Enco Oil and Hoosier Pete at various locations becoming a route salesman for Farber Distributing Co. from 1963 to 1983, then for B-F Beverage Co., Inc. as salesman from 1986 until his retirement in 1993.

      He was a member of the American Legion post in Cloverdale and the Masonic Lodge also of Cloverdale.

      He is survived by: his wife Lois Elaine Emery (Keller); brother Emil Emery, Jr.; sister Irene Corbell (Emery); daughter Cynthia LaVerne Blankenship (Emery); son-in-law Dennis E. Blankenship; son Jerry Lee Emery; daughter-in-law Vera H. Emery; grandchildren Dennis Brett Blankenship, Samantha Marie Lewis (Blankenship), Jovanny Martin Emery, Francesca Elaine Emery; and many nieces and nephews.

      He was preceded in death by his father Emil Emery, Sr., his mother Vina Emery (Dove), his brother Robert Lee Emery and his twin sister Peggy Neil Emery.

      Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. on Tuesday at Flanner & Buchanan Funeral Center-Decatur, 5463 Kentucky Ave., Indianapolis, with burial following at the West Newton Cemetery in West Newton.
