The Revised Genealogical Records John and Anthony Emery Newbury, Massachusetts If you wish corrections, new data, or photos insereted into the pages submit directly to me.
Okay I am going to start back to work on this slowly - I need some input - I am going to continue in the format I have for while - but there needs to be some major changes I know - but this was done form the 1982 book I had published in 1982
- 1 - Would you like the lineage line returned? ie ( Judith E. McKee,Reba, Clarence Ovid, charles Sigel, Nathaniel, Ambrose, Ambrose, James, Jonathan, John)
- Would you like to see this transformed into TNG - [The Next Generation of Genealogy Sitebuilding, v.7.1.2] - See Conrard Emery' section on this site
- there is NO charge for the Emery Family
Research Association it is FREE - all I ask for is a thank you, donation of material ; if you wish to donate monetarialy it won't be rejected - I am still maintiaing a staight format manuscript in "WORD", why I do not know - all pages will be checked against it - any new data I have always placed into it since starting the web pages - why in case this could be published in book format only - which I doubt is very unlikely - I can not see that as it is a VERY LARGE work - it was in 3 binders/notebooks that was 3-4 inches you can see the numerous files below - of between 20-50 pages or more; to make it workable in "WORD"
- All I ask is for patience - this is a ONE PERSON project - besides contributions of data to input.
This would be immediate updating and corrections of errors, but it means hand keying in all the basic information - Names, dates, places - the rest of the infiormation can be cut and pasted into the notes section - the only and biggest draw back I see would be it would not be in book form and readable as it is presented right now
This manuscript has been in progress since 1976 in reality, when me and my mother's cousin started our own Emery line's. It began in earnest on John's section when we finally located a book and Charles got the full title and contacted the Library of Congress and obtained a photocopy of it and then had a copy made for me. The preface tells the story of beginning venture into this family and how it leads to here finally.
It is a combination of the following works:
Revised Genealogical Records of John Emery of Newbury, Massachusetts (1982, Gateway Baltimore, Maryland.) Judith Elaine Burns - this was only the emigrant John's section from the 1890 book below it contained all of the 1890 book as a starting point and revision took on any missing ancestors of John whether male of female.
Genealogical Records of John and Anthony Emery of Newbury, Mass. (1890, Emery Cleaves, Salem, Mass.) Rev. Rufus Emery. - this is the original book published in 1890 - there are some pamphlets that were published or printed up by the Emery association back then or by those who were helping to compile this book - maybe we can get hold some of them and see if they have data that was not included in the 1890 book.
While doing research for John's section I collected any and all information on the descendants of Anthony Emery and any unconnected Emery I came across also. After the printing of the 1982 section on John Emery I started to work on Anthony Emery's section.
Since publication of the additions to John's section (since 1982)and Anthony's seems a far fetched idea at this point in time I am going to put my work on this site and hope everyone will appreciate it and use it wisely and give credit where due. Also I hope that you will help me correct and add to it as we go along.
Below are the files there are 143:

on the left is the miscellaneous card file of Emery, Hoag, Buswell, Bailey and Ordway.
Computerization of these began sometime after October 1986 when I got my first computer - a Kaypro 2 5 1/4 floppy drive only with WordStar as the word processing program - and in 1997 I finally graduated to a very troublesome computer with some of the bells and whistles cd, 5 1/4 (of course), 3 1/2, 1.2 hard drive and a modem I never used for long while - I had WordPerfect so I installed it and used it but did not convert all of files to it immediately - I worked on getting files that still needed to be computerized done. Then in 1997/8 a distant cousin gave me office 97 and I started using it - but it would not convert Wordstar files so I had to go through WordPerfect first then to Word - one of the last major computer "primary Hard Drive Failure" episodes which occurred quite often and when I it got back I made a point to convert all remaining files of the manuscript to WordPerfect without opening up this was about 2002 - and hoping all would be there... Of these only the ones I lost lost data of were eight or nine files that did not permit me to open and convert from WordPerfect to Word files. I had transferred these all over off of floppy on the hard drive or so I thought; but these files were not on the hard drive and it was the floppy which failed. They had to typed back in from the paper copy as the data could not be salvage from the floppy disk; they were split down further at this point to 13 files because of size of the material within.
I know probably some of the original purchasers of the Book on John's section are deceased and possibly some that started to help me on Anthony's section - they all are missed and their great support. The wonderful memories of the support, correspondence etc. flooded back as I came across either their names within the manuscript - or their correspondence yet to be added o.
I have retained all files as Word files also to work with and to redo web pages with - and if pre chance there is any dream- hope of it ever being printed in hard copy. Also to share with others through CD when more work are done on them, if all hope of anything other than web pages exists.
I have ditched all the paper files of the manuscript - even tho generations 1-6 looks as if I had redone them - but that was prior to 25 Oct 2001 as one of the famous computer melt downs of "primary hard drive failure" occurred and I went to "windows 98" only to not be able to use my printer I had since 1990 so had to do without a printer for several months till could afford one - and I am still using that one which is a printer/scanner/copier - I doubled check to see if I had written any new data in on them there were a few notation - so I made sure they are in the files.
Now it is time to tackle my e-mails, my snail mail correspondence and my folder of notes etc to see where I stand. For while I will try and add to this using my table below. Also because the files need to be cleaned up, formatted better and reviewed for typing errors - I can not afford the paper, and the black and color cartridges of ink that it would take to print it all out right now.
I know here are some alignment corrections needed - but over all I think through the conversions it retained pretty well my basic format - I just did a quick visual to make sure all files converted correctly and are there in full as per paper file. So till I get back to the - poor aligned ones bear with me but I felt it is more important to see what files existed as a computer file and if they converted - then onward and forward with more cleanup. I have learned more html and some javascript coding so will be re-organizing the site in the future.
Any corrections and additions are welcome; just reference with the numbers from the online manuscript, and an generational outline especially if double lineages are involved - that I am also trying to eliminate is a double entry if at all possible. Your own website on your Emery ancestor? want a link from the descendant within in her your site? Please send it and I will link it. I was having trouble with the 1st file of Chapter 5 of opening and allowing me to edit it thus hopefully to avoiding future trouble I split it thus the blank spaces in the chart below.
If you have any trouble of the whole file opening up please let me know and I will split the file immediately. I am splitting the larger files up as I go now also to avoid any problems hopefully.
Differing data can be found within [ ]. Adopted children will be carried out under the adopted parents if it is known that the child was adopted; otherwise the descendants are as presented to me. The mark ~ indicates that the person is not carried out in the next generation they either died unmarried or s.p. [without issue]; and * indicates that the line is continued.
The numbers after the chapter information is the first set of numbers out of [---] are the parents in the chapter; the numbers within the [---] are the children.
| Chapter Two - 1 John 3-8 = parents in the chapter [12-66] = the children in the chapter |
Thus children 3-8 from the previous chapter are the parents in this chapter and [12-66] are the children in the chapter and are the parents of the next chapter. I hope that this will help in locating a person easily and is a good reference map to the site and contents.
I Found the one article on the Northend - Emery controversy - It is not the one I remember [unless my memory fails me]- but it is a start - it is under the Preface section the very last item - in that section for now. It showed up in some computers files a cousin sent me several years back that I had not touched - for fear of damaging - I had sent it too him - now if only the other one shows up - as I think it was loaded with citations from wills and estates etc. proving and disproving the Emery, Bailey, Woodman and Northend connections.
Thanks for all your support and encouragement and data over the years. - I am starting to reformat some of the pages as the corrections are coming in - a new page design, and eliminating the abbrevations for the state and month and others. I am also working on the text formatting - it is slowly getting better - I hope you will be patient with me - I hope to start researching as I can access Heritage Quest through a Historical Society and my local library - Maybe one day I can afford to rejoin New England Historical and Genealogical Society. Just remember these are your ancestors too, this is your site - and without your contributions none of it would of been possible.
Some have said the search engine on main page is not producing results - here is one just for the book section - see will see what it does -
| I came across your website by "googling" Marcia Belle Lord. I am a collector of vintage cookbooks, and along with a pile of books I got at a flea market, was a "Bridal Souvenier" book. It contains a copy of the marriage certificate of Marica Belle Lord and George Lewis Osgood, married in Sullivan, Maine in 1902. I saw from your website, that they were part of your family tree. I saw that they had a daughter, but didn't get, much further than that. I was hoping to find a desendant of the couple so I could return the book to them. If you have any information, or would like the book, feel free to contact me I am located in North Andover, MA and would be happy to return the book to a family member. Thanks so much Holly Guptill |

As I re-do the pages I am going to indicate the main descendant the represent after the Chapter information - maybe this will help some people also. I am sorry that the site has been down = in trying to correct a page out of line the index page i delted it and the whole site diappear - below is the new break down - Ihave it dub-divided into John and Anthony section and each chapter has its own folder also - so some graphics and links will probably not work - please be patient - if notified I will work on the links in that section I hope that with in the next few days to have them all working.
Johns chapter is a test rail of the new style page - I have a wide screen please let me know if it goes out of bounds on the right side.

Lydia Emery m. James Bailey NOTE: both the brothers John Emery married Alice Grantham and Anthony Emery married Francis Porter are listed as being the father of Lydia (Emery) Bailey depending upon which account is given - thus I am treating her as a daughter of both for now - It is easier to list her data seperate than to include it as a part of the above manuscript
