Dear Judi, we own a home in Lyman (Alfred area) which we purchased about 7 years ago.  It was constructed in 1957 after the fire.

Information supplied to us at the time of sale tells us that the walls and mantle and selected other pieces in our living room were originally from "Emery's Tavern" from Sanford.

A small monument exists today on Rt. 109 in Sanford designating the location of this tavern.  Information tells us Lafayette stopped at this tavern in his travels in this area.

Do you have any information about this tavern?

The original owner and builder of this house was a banker in Sanford and supposedly had access to this material which had been in storage.

Thank you.
